L Grant I added this picture of the Blueberries ripening just to warm the cockles of your heart and to remind of the goodness of home state of North Carolina. We will probably be making Blueberry Cobblers by this coming weekend.

1) Bean- Do you know much about taking care of blueberry bushes? We've got just one so far, but don't have a clue how to maintain it. I guess I need to read up on that. It's been producing the last 2 years, but we've never done anything as far as pruning or such.

2) Looks great, Bean. Thanks for sharing! I don't think I ever ate a local blueberry in NC when I lived there. I did eat some ripe ones along the trail in Michigan when we hiked along Lake Superior. Those were awesome. Wild are definitely the best but these look gorgeous. You'll have to tell us what you do with them (other than the cobblers which sound delicious!).

3) Snelly, it is my understanding that you prune Blueberries in January, just like grape vines. As far as transplanting, you did up one of the young sprouts and transplant it in January, also. Before transplanting your sprigs (about a small bundle), you dig a hole about 18" deep and put maybe two hands full of 10-10-10 Fertlizer in the bottom of the hole. Place the bundle of the sprigs in the hole, cover them back up and put about 5 gallons of Water around them for a week and let nature provide the water.
