The Name Game

Here's a fun Friday activity. Somehow I get put in charge of thinking of (or helping to choose) names for new products.

Today, I need to try to think of a name for a new daughter card that will be an off-the-shelf expansion board to our Fingertip line of products. (My company makes embedded systems or single board computers - the guts of handheld devices that actually make the suckers run.)

I suggested the name Dex (as in like dexterous), but it got poo-pooed. I work with all engineers who are too busy to brainstorm or even type in an idea an email if it pops in their heads *sigh*. Do they frustrate me ... nooooo, not all all.

Anyway, so if anyone out there as any ideas (NO IDEA IS A DUMB IDEA), please jot them down below!!

Let me know if you have any questions ... thanks!

(I will let you know what name we end up with.)

4) I suggested Charlie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OBlgSz8sSM (back to the finger reference), but no body wanted it.

I still like Charlie.

Maybe Bravo.

How about Alpha?

5) I don't even understand the product you're brainstorming for...I'm a bit technology illiterate, so I wouldn't try explaining it...but what about Mano or something like that? It means "hand" in Spanish.

9) I like nimble, I'll have to run that by them. Need a few options though, they're not very keen on just one. Nimble is on the list. Thank you, Emmy Ann.

I can haz more suggestions? :)

10) "Debos"- spanish for fingers or maybe "Debas" (not really a spanish work, but changing the 'o' to 'a' indicates the female version)

finex- finger (board) extension
finexa- girly finger board extension?

I have no idea what you're talking about tho, what is a daughter card?

11) Basically a daughter card can hook to you mainboard or motherboard (so the simple computer (board) in a small device) to give you more peripherals and options (extending uses, etc. for main board)

13) Along the 'finger' path...
Poke, Pointer, Bird, Dedo, Stevie (after the Stevie Wonder song 'Fingertips')

Along the 'daughter' path...
Fille, Figlia, Hija, Pearl (after the Pearl Jam song, Daughter)
