Single Parenting
OK, so I'm not a single parent, nor do I want to be. My sister is a single parent...she was married to Cody's father back in '91; divorced in '94. Cali JoAnn was a surprise in '98. However, she's chosen to not remarry, and even after a tragic 2007, she still has no desire to marry again. Me, on the other hand, I think I would choose to stay married, even if there were issues, not that there are. My husband is just going on a business trip. To Vegas.
Now, I'm sure that IBM is a really great company to work for and all, but VEGAS? Are you kidding me?? Couldn't they pick a more "family friendly" place for a week-long conference for WebSphere programmers? Like Orlando. They did have it there once. Before we had kids. Oh, and Ft. Lauderdale - at least that's in Florida.
Anyway, Bill's flight leaves B-N at 6am on Sunday morning, which means he leaves the house by 4:30am. He won't be able to say goodbye to the children that morning, and he hates that. Moreover, his departure means this for The Momma until he returns:
20 meals
13 snacks
20+ loads of dishes
5 loads of laundry
6 cans of garbage + garbage day
2 dogs x 2 meals/day = 13 dog bowls x 2 again
2 dogs x 5 potties/day = 62 potty breaks
6 baths x 2 kids/day = 12 baths
6 diapers x 2 kids/day = 72+ diapers
15+ changes of clothing
And that's just off the top of my head!!
I don't know how my sister has done this for so long. I don't know how she's added chemotherapy and rehabilitation for Cali and reahbilitation and counseling for Cody to her already chaotic schedule. It's insane.
So to all you single parents, I salute you! And I look forward to my husband's safe return on Saturday, April 12th!!

1) Yeah, I don't know how single parents make it every day. The last time Denny went out of town a few weeks ago I got strep throat and I was miserable. I was able to take her to daycare during the day though. I hope everything goes well while Bill is gone.
2) WOW!!!!!!! Maybe Bek and I should stop with our first kid. The pic is Great!!!
3) Yeah, we thought we'd stop with one child, also, but figured that was kinda' selfish on our part. I mean, we both have siblings, so why not put our charming son through sibling hell, too! Oh, and thanks about the pic - I took it.
4) I saw this pic on your home page...toooooo super cute!!
5) Thanks!
