Camp COCO
My niece, Cali Jo, attended SIU School of Medicine's Camp COCO at Lake Bloomington last week and had a blast with all of her friends from St. Jude, as well as the counselors and staff. Here is a photo of her friend, Alexis Helfrich, saying goodbye before Cali leaves for Pekin; Lexi has Wilms Tumor that has metastasized into her lungs...

...she is currently undergoing her third round of chemotherapy, this after radiation treatments in 2007. Camp experience this year was a necessity for Alexis, allowing her to let loose and have fun, as well as share her fears, hopes and thoughts about death and heaven.
