Baby Boys = Pee Party?

I need some advise from anyone on Humzoo that has had a baby boy. Having a girl that is almost two, I've gotten really good at changing diapers, but my boy is a whole different animal. Almost every time he pees, he pees out of his diaper and if not, he sprays all over the place when we open his diaper. We've been going through several outfits a day and I wanted to know if we just have to deal with it or if there is anything that can lessen the pee party. Maybe point his penis in a different direction?

Also, thanks to all the Humzooers for the nice comments in Liam's new photo album.

1 always keep it covered-use a cloth and cover him before you remove the old one
2. baby boys pee more-I use to have to strip Matt's bed-
before they made disposables
3.wear protective eye gear and learn to duck
4.try different brands one usually works better than the other-I had better
luck with Huggies-you may need a preemie size
5; Laugh alot

My daughter works at a daycare and she recommends Pampers Swaddlers or Huggies Supreme. Timing is everything try waiting a bit after waking up, maybe 15 to 20 after waking up. Good luck!

Ps, IF he ever gets diaper rash, ONLY use powder it keeps the area more dry with better results.

I really don't care for name-brand diapers per se - we've found White Cloud to have less leaks, especially overnight, but to each his/her own. The one thing to remember with boys is that even though they aren't grown men, yet, their penises think they are; therefore, it will frequently "get a mind of its own" throughout the day and night. So, it really doesn't matter where you point it when you put the diaper on. However, if you just take the top of the diaper (in front, near the belly) and fold it over towards the inside about an inch or so, it will work better at "redirecting" pee-pee if the penis is pointed up at that time.

Good luck!

The problem will likely go away shortly. I seem to remember this happening with Ethan. His diaper would be completely dry, but he'd have urine all over the back of his outfit. He was a magician. Penis should point down for best absorption. Dave hates that

yup, penis down. I think everyone will tell you *their* diaper is the best. I prefered Pampers for both my boys. And keep those baby washcloths handy when changing dipes. Just put one on top when you take a dipe off and don't remove it until you are ready to put the new up and over.

We, actually I should say *I*, was pretty fortunate with my son and being sprayed. He didn't get me that often. (My husband was another story. lol) I know that some people keep little dixie cups handy for when changing a boy. I haven't tried it myself, so I can't tell you if it works well or not.

I have changed lots and lots of boy diapers and have NEVER been peed on by one, girls yes, boys no. something to take note of ...before a baby boy goes pee his penis gets an erection. Sometimes a slight one and sometimes a full one. You see that happen and you QUICKLY get him covered. lol I used White Cloud also and had good results. Oh and sometimes you have to go up a size even if they don't need it weight wise.

this is hysterical! Tucker peed on me quite a few times in the first few months of his life, but lately i think it is has only happened a handful of times.
We were having trouble overnight with leaking, now that he is sleeping all the way through, but we switched back to huggies (we cheaped out and tried target) and it stopped the leak problem.
I have 2 friends that have had this problem, one friend cuts apart maxi pads and attaches them to the diaper, it is crazy and another friend went up in diaper size, even though the weight wasn't right yet, and it solved it for her.
I am not very helpful, but loved the comments and can relate with the problem!
Good Luck, tell us what worked.

Layne gets me every once and awhile but usually its because I'm lazy. When I'm not being lazy I'll put a baby washcloth down and cover him up. It seems to stay put better than almost anything and it's quite absorbent. Other than that, I second Dannie's suggestions.

This doesn't help with the diaper leaking situation. But for when his diaper is off, maybe something like this would help... http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?itemId=13271
