Washington DC

This past week, JDI and I went to visit my Dad and his wife Sheryl in Washington DC. I am on break from school until Oct. 14th and figured now would be a good time for a little getaway. We flew out last Tuesday and stayed 1 week. We did the DC touristy things, riding the metro and walking around.
Friday afternoon we went to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home. It was about a 1.5 hour drive from DC in Charlottesville, VA. We had a fantastic lunch and toured Jefferson's home.
Saturday we went to Old Town Alexandria, walked around and shopped. Saturday night we went to the Mount Vernon Wine Festival at George Washington's home. We tried so many great tasting wines and had a cheese box for dinner while sitting on the lawn of Mount Vernon at sunset. It was incredible. There was live music and you could tour Washington's home.
Sunday we took as a lazy day and hung around their house. We watched some movies in their theatre and played plenty of pool and darts in their pub. We went to the Melting Pot for dinner on Sunday. It was fabulous, if you have one near you I highly suggest going. It is a fondue restaurant, but that have a lot more than just cheese!
Monday Joe and I went out shopping and drove past some old haunts of mine from when I lived in the area.

We had a blast and really enjoyed our time there. Neither one of us even looked at humzoo while we were away. We have a lot of catching up to do.

3) yes I am. I really like the calendar too. Just when you feel like you are getting burnt out, you get a break.

4) I'm so jealous!! I'd love to teach on balanced calendar. I think it'd be heaven for teachers and kids.
