Our First Baby Shower
My coworkers threw a baby shower for me on Friday, May 29th. We get out of school on June 11th, so this was pretty much the last chance to do it. As some of you know I work as a secretary in an elementary school and for the most part :) I love it. My co-workers were so sweet and so generous to Joe and myself, it brought me to tears. They are a very eclectic group of people and everyone is so different, but when they all come together you know why our students turn out to be great people. They are so loving and kind and I am so thankful to have worked with them for them past two years.

Joe joined us yesterday after he got off work and helped me open some gifts. I always feel silly opening a bunch a gifts in front of people, I was glad to have him there to help me. They got us everything from clothes to the pack'n'play! I think they might have bought out our entire Target registry. I cannot believe our little girl is going to be here in just two short months. It seems like there is so much left to do, yet we have come so far. I am so excited to have the summer off to really hunker down and get stuff done. Now for the fun part, going through all of her stuff and organizing!

1) What a nice thing for them to do! Our office used to be great about that--seems like everyone has gotten so focused on their job and keeping it and think less to share than keep. It sounds like you work with a great bunch! Hurrah for registries! I would be clueless what to buy for a new baby. Even after listening to all the new parents here, it is a boggling place for folks like me. :)

I can understand your feelings about opening gifts and being the focus of so many people. I'm glad Joe was there to take some of the focus off and help you relax and enjoy it more. I think it is fun if both parents can be there. I know a bunch of folks did that for a male coworker and his wife and it was fun that both could attend.

2) Their actions are saying how they feel about you. Their love and respect for you isn't a given, it is something that is earned. You said that your coworkers were great people, and I'm sure they are. They came together for this occasion to honor another great person, you.

3) Amen, Steve. And K8 thinks she doesn't impact others and give of herself.

4) Well said Steve! I'm glad you are blessed with such great friends and co-workers. I can't believe you're already so far along. It seems like you just announced it!
