Days at the Ballpark

For my birthday in January, Joe bought me two tickets to the Cardinals game today. There were in one of the special sections, Homer's Landing. I have to say this was one of the best experiences I have had at a ballpark, and I have been to quite a few.

We arrived plenty early and made our way around the stadium, just checking out the vendors and watching some people. We made our way to our seats and wouldn't you know it, there was a pressed penny machine right outside! Everyone that knows me can tell you, I am a freak for pressed pennies. It is seriously, the cheapest souvenir you can ever buy!

So we walk in to sit down and they have to give you these little wrist bands so you can come and go as you please. We had a great view of the field, almost dead center field and we were in the shade! How sweet, after awhile it did get a tiny chilly, but it was great! They told us that beer and food were complimentary in this section and they would begin serving at 12:45. We were sitting right next to the food line too. Hot dogs, brats and nachos. With Bud or Bud Light to wash it down. There was also sodas and bottled water to drink. It was so great, Joe got drunk and it did not cost him a fortune!

We sat next to a really nice couple who had driven 150 miles to go to the game that day. We had a few beers together watched the game and chatted. The game was good. Cardinals won 3-0. It did not seem like the Nationals were putting up much of a fight. The center-fielder Ankiel hit a double in the first inning to score and run, and a single shot later on for run #2. He made some good catches and it seemed to really be his day.

Joe and I both bought new hats and walked around a bit, and before we knew it the game was over. We made our way up 55 towards home, but not before stopping at White Castle to get a few cheeseburgers. All in all it was the perfect baseball outing. Thanks hun, best birthday present ever, and it only took three months!

Check out my album for the pictures from the game.

1) Baseball and White Castle. Two of my favorites. We had tickets in Milwaukee today. Looks like the Brewers and Cardinals are still tied for first, but my Cubs are trapped at .500.
