Knitting! Yesterday was the second meeting of my knitting class! It only meets once a week for three weeks, but I am really excited about it. The first night we learned how to knit and began making a scarf, and last night we learned how to purl and follow a pattern and began a dishcloth!
I am really proud of myself for signing up for this class. I'm very bad at taking time for myself, the direct result of which is me having absolutely no hobbies. I don't know why I wanted to learn how to knit, but I really did. And having just a couple hours a week to sit with a bunch of other nice ladies and talk and laugh and grumble at missed loops makes me feel like an old lady in the absolue best way. It also makes me feel a little bit like myself again.
I'm excited for our next and last class (even though it lands on my husband's birthday - what a great guy, not getting too mad at me for hobbying it up on his bday). I'm also excited about taking more classes and for possibly taking advantage of the shop's "open knitting" hours on Thursdays nights when people can just show up and knit.
I am also excited to get home to my dishcloth.

1) I think that is great. Carol got into that several years ago and has really enjoyed it and I think made some awesome presents for the family. I tried both knitting and crocheting but my tension is a little much. I was much better at counted cross-stitch where tension is a good thing. :) Sadly I had to give that up due to damaged hands (all that computering!). I still miss that zen time where it was just you and the yard or floss. Hope you enjoy it as much as Carol does.

3) I hope you like this. Mom (Carol) has made some great presents for us. I received a beautiful scarf this year that everyone wants! I myself opt for the "Knifty Knitter" that I bought for the kids this year. Everyone in the high school is using this to make hats. I know it doesn't take a lot of talent for it, but at least my family is doing something other than watch tv. My husband, who is a macho outdoorsman, went to the fabric store to buy more yarn. Impressive!

4) Hard to imagine Jason in a fabric store. What's next??

5) Unbelievable isn't it? He even figured out which yarn mom used to make my scarf and bought me some so I could make a hat. I never would have known what to buy. Maybe some of his mom's craftiness wore off on him.

8) I'm impressed!! Maybe he can work on those when the fish aren't biting when he's sitting in the ice fishing house. :)

9) Kate, I like that you wrote a blog and then, in response to what you wrote, what looks like two family members start talking about another family member and then they start getting caught up on family things back and forth, completely ignoring you, but that's not important, because it is all because of your blog that these folks know that Jason knows what yarn Mom Carol bought so that somebody (shelly or jason?) can make a matching hat.....with ear flaps.... who knew a blog About knitting could do so much? Way to bring people together!
