Silly Putty on Car Seats

Elizabeth couldn't find the lid to her bright pink "Big Putty" which she was playing with in the van. So she just left this giant blob of flourscent pink silly putty on the seat in the van and forgot about it. A week later when we returned from vacation we discovered it had baked nicely into the fabric on the seat.

We tried to remove it but we weren't having any luck. So then we had Elizabeth seek a trusted source of information to find a solution: the Internet! She discovered the best way to remove silly putty from fabric is to use Bath and Body Works hand sanitizer. We stuck our hands in tube socks and squirted the liquid on the seat and began rubbing. It magically dissolved. There isn't any trace of the putty. What a nifty home remedy.

I love that she had to do her own research to fix the problem. Very clever, too!

I always say I'll gladly give up TV and other entertainment cost in the house--just not the internet. It's more than entertainment. Great job finding the remedy, Elizabeth!

Brilliant! I need a similar solution but for cat vomit on sofas / carpets. Can you get Elizabeth on that one for me?
:-)

I remember working at Stanley Steemer and I was cleaning car seats and came across melted crayon, that is no fun either.

I worked at a place one time, in my career, and some one put Super Glue on a toilet seat. Another employee sat down on it and paid the consequences;consequently, SG was removed and culprit was found and terminated,no questions asked because NC is a Right to Work State.

I believe the correct legal term is "At Will" State. You are hired at will and fired at will and no explaination is required

Thank you, thank you! Was horrified when we saw a 5" blob stuck to the carpet of the back of the headrest since the seats were folded down!

THANK YOU!! Had a huge blob of putty in the rental car from vacation.. Thanks goodness it worked. I didn't want to see the fee they charged us to get it out at the rental car shop. :)

My niece and her BFF were riding in the back seat of my BRAND NEW CAR, and my niece put her slime in the armrest cup holder. Her friend didn't know it was there and pushed the armrest up when she got out of the car. There had to be at least a pound of white slime. They were afraid to tell me about it for a few days. The entire recessed area is nothing but hardened white slime. And it goes down past the back of the open armrest so I can't even get in there easily to get it all. :((((( On my way to Bath and Body Works! (I tried vinegar per some other website but it only seemed to get tiny specs off at a time. I would have been there for the next five years!)
