A couple of cool baking books I found...

Just saw this one on a baking blog site. I couldn't help but think of the talented folks here decorating cupcakes. Looks like a fun little book (I have my reservation in at the library!) I really love the Small Batch Baking. For folks who really don't need a whole cake around, the baking recipes are for 2-4 people. Just enough to enjoy the treat but not enough to get you in trouble! No special equipment needed neither.

This has nothing to do with the books but I'm sitting here with National Open House on HGTV. They just showed a $1M home in MOORESVILLE, NC! That got my attention. Guess what...located on Lake Norman (no kidding). I missed any that they discussed before this one at other prices. Too wild to hear someone say Mooresville, NC on TV here in Oregon.

Linda, there are a lot of million dollar houses on the lake. Lake Norman seems to be the destination for Northerners for retirement. When we go out on the boat I keep my eye on a few. Hopefully Humzoo will make it big and I can buy one for me and one for Denny.

I wasn't surprised at the price but the shock of hearing Mooresville, NC in the show got my attention. I think Rose mentioned how expensive the houses have gotten on the lake. After growing up in that sleepy little town it always surprises me to hear about it in a national way. LOL

I would bring up the cabin Denny promised me with his first $1M but I'm sure he will work on that after you buy your $1M home, and Dylan graduates college and you make sure your retirement is planned and sock away enough for her wedding, etc. :)

$1M won't get you much in CT. It is wickedly expensive to live in this State and the taxes are terrible. There is house for sale down the road from me for $4M and Ivan Lendl's house is on the market for $24M. Know anyone that is looking for a house with a complete indoor tennis facility? If so Ivan would like to hear from them.

I just ordered the Small-Batch Baking. That's so awesome. I have a cooking for two cookbook, but not baking for two. Thanks for sharing this!

Glad to help. I checked it out at the library and thought it was a very unique book. And no special cost for equipment required. :) I tried the one recipe that was a caramelized pineapple shortcake with a brown-sugar cream topping. It was so funny making something so "tiny" after doing so many big batches of everything but the two people I made it for at work thought it was great--said that brown-sugar cream was "da bomb". Nice nowadays with people trying to keep healthy and not keep large batches of treats on-hand. Hope you like it as much as I did!
