I take some of the prettiest with stems intact to decorate the top. A few cake crumbs add to the decoration (and keep the top from sticking to the cream and berries). Oregon strawberries are like the most precious jewels that cannot be treated roughly or last very long--they are very fragile but oh, the flavor. Indescribable. A friend from FL who recently moved here is getting her first taste of a trifle and some Oregon berries too. I hope she likes it!!
