I took one of my favorite vanilla cake recipes and made two batches and baked 3-sizes of cake. I was a little disappointed the small ones wouldn't brown like I wanted but given the tiny size I was worried they would turn into hockey pucks if I baked them longer than 15 minutes. Since their shape and color wasn't as inspired as the larger ones, I dunked them in chocolate. Since they were so small, I had lots of chocolate glaze left so I glazed the larger ones too. Efficiency in the baking kitchen!

wow. that is a lot of cake! What do you do with all of them? If you say eat them, I will be duly impressed.

Nope--give them away. I wanted to try the small teacake pan so I did a double-batch to do that but then they are maybe 1 1/2 t. each so that leaves some batter to use otherwise. I had the slightly larger pan that I did three more to use it all up. I took the three larger ones to work and handed them out.

Linda, they were delicious! Dylan loved them. We also sent some of the bigger ones to Margaret and Rose and Dennis. I am getting around to thank you notes, but they were a hit! Thanks again. PS- Dylan loves the frogs too.

Glad to hear it, Niki. I figured you had a lot of people to thank for various things. I'm glad she likes Toad and Frog. I kept trying to find the book in a younger format for her but I never could find it. Just the older version. Hopefully you can use the gift card too. I wanted to buy her a book but I figured it would be hard to guess what you have and don't have.

Thanks, she will definitely use the gift card. She has well over 100 books in her collection already. She is going to open her own library soon!

I figured. That's why I got the gift card--since you know what you have and what you don't. I think they have puzzles there too so maybe a new puzzle for her.

Denny has said we need to hold off on the puzzles too. She has like 20 of those. Basically she has too much stuff. Next year we are donating to charity in her name.

That sounds like a plan. Maybe you can do that now with the older ones and get some fresh ones for her 2-year-old mind. :)

So do you have three pans with a bunch of each size per pan (does that make sense????)?

Girl, I have more pans than some kitchen stores. LOL

I used 3 different sizes for the cakes above. A new teacake pan that is roughly 1 1/2 t. of batter. A mini-bundt pan set that is 6 1-cup (I used two--one that is all plain and 1 that is 3 different styles - 2 each). And then because my teacakes were so small and I had so much batter, I used 3 - 3 cup size for the largest one. I think I have 9-cup, 10-cup, 12-cup in various bundt or shaped type tube pans as well as some specialty ones like a heart and some little designer loaves I bought after Christmas for next year. Sometimes I forget what I have, I have so many varieties but I do use most of them occasionally for different size recipes or for the fun of it.
