They are out there now, talking to each other in squeaky little voices, getting their last feeding for the night. Goodnight, guys!

I have not had the thrill of hearing their tiny little voices!

Very squeaky. I remember in the winter it nearly being plaintive. The buzzing of the wings is the most notable and helps me zero in on their location but I'll have to bring the FLIP camera out some night and see if I can get any video and capture the sounds in the yard. It's quite a symphony some nights. So many parts--the waterfall, all the birdsong in the trees, the buzzing hummers racing around (a couple just did some amazing aerial stunts about 3 in. off the ground at who knows what speed!! I wish I could capture all the tiny elements like the hummers feeding in the mimosa tree--that would be so pretty with the pinks and greens of the tree and the colorful little birds.

I hear the hummingbirds near my garage frequently so I know when one is close by - last Saturday morning I was in a timber clearing brush for my new deer stand. I heard the familiar sound of a hummingbird's wings close by. Not knowing where it was I froze and slowly looked around - found it hovering by a leaf about four feet from me!

The ones that crack me up are the nuthatches. They sound like tiny bicycle horns. I don't remember the ones before Oregon sounding like that. Maybe I just never spent enough time around them to hear.

I have heard chickadees the last few days but haven't been able to spot the little guys till today.

Aerial battles with hummingbirds are amazing. Straight up and down, inches from the ground, pirouettes around and around each other. They fan their tails too--not sure if that is a statement or necessity. Their tails are incredibly beautiful. Different bands of color. Wish I could capture that!!

I know exactly what you are saying!! And there is no way one can capture that with a camera.
