When I moved to my new home, I noticed some "leaves" or "debris" way up in the mimosa tree. I didn't think too much about it until the tree was bare then noticed "it" was still there. I didn't get a close look but one day Debbie mentioned "you have a skunk in your tree". Apparently the grandkids of the previous owners tossed a stuffed skunk toy into the tree and it stuck. I've stared at that skunk for months, wondering how to get it down. Yesterday morning, I noticed it had dropped to a branch I thought I could reach with a rake. Sure enough, I was able to get the varmint down and just in time for the mimosa tree to get pretty. It's starting to leaf out. Maybe the warm weather in the next few days will help it pick up speed and be in leaf if not bloom when my family visits. At least they won't have to look at the skunk.
