A dear friend and I started reminiscing about "the good old days". When natural food stores were rare, natural sections in main grocery stores unheard of, food co-ops and buying clubs were the way to go. There are still areas that rely on buying clubs but they aren't as plentiful as they were when I started down the health food path. The company "Mountain Warehouse" that was based in Durham, NC closed in 1991 due to the changing times. Cyn and I started reminiscing about all the great products we got from there. One of my favorites was Nettlerose Shampoo. Loved the stuff. Over the years since I moved from TN, I've put out feelers on the web for the company who made it. I think I finally found it--and it appears to have gone out of business too. Community Soap Factory. While surfing, I found a small company that carries a Nettle Shampoo. It's touted as a great treatment for thinning hair or hair that is falling out. I have neither (ask my hairdresser) but I couldn't resist trying it to see if it is as good as I found the Nettlerose years ago. Nostalgia can be both fun and sad--realizing all the great products that have come and gone and nothing as good replaced them.

I agree about all the stuff that has come out with the labels "new and improved"; they aren't as good as the "old and unimproved"!!

You know, they changed coke once, then supposedly changed it back to "classic". They didn't. It tastes like crap compared to how it tasted 20 years ago. I want my coke 1986 style, better flavor and in a glass bottle!

I'm with you on nostalgia. Companies make too many changes to good products. It is sad, indeed.

I'll find out this AM, Moore. I found some natural spray for the shower at New Seasons (another natural food store here) that smells awesome. Sage and something. I kept going in the bathroom yesterday thinking "what smells so good?" One of those natural cleaners.

Natural cleaners smell way better and are safer. They don't make me cough and have near death experiences either! My Father saved me once from a chemically induced asthma attack when I was cleaning my bathroom. I think I was like 15 but I combined something and made a toxic mess. He dragged me out of the bathroom as I was passing out. SCARY! Ever since then I don't get near the chemical stuff!

That shampoo sounds nice! I like Nature's Gate shampoos. They aren't expensive either.
