Chestnut Backed Chickadee
More suet cam. This time I got a good video section with the chestnut-backed chickadee. I've never seen this one up where the peanuts are on the deck. Apparently he isn't into peanuts like the black-capped chickadee. If you haven't seen both, at the end of this video you can see first the chestnut-backed then the black-capped right after to get a good comparison. Those crazy little bushtits also seem to overwhelm the chickadees at times but they do seem willing to share for the most part.

I can't believe I did it again. I kept thinking about the new Nuthatch I saw and kept tagging everything nuthatch instead of chickadee. Sigh!! Sorry for the bad title! :)

While scouting through pictures to try to identify the bird we called a bushtit I came across a picture on the web of this cute little guy(chestnut-backed chickadee)! I remembered seeing this bird somewhere, but where? I knew it wasn't here, I knew it wasn't my bird book because my book doesn't have it in there. Then I remembered - your very first video with the flip camera (you listed the video as Flip). the first bird in this video is a black-capped chickadee. The second bird is a chestnut-backed chickadee. You have such a neat variety of birds come to your feeders. We don't have much variety here. Sparrows, starlings, and snowbirds are three three main clientele.

I'll have to look back. I know we discussed the chestnut-backed chickadee but I didn't remember seeing it. Trust you to see it! I haven't seen so many until this year. Of course I haven't done the suet cage or much birdseed either. If you put it out--they will come. :)
