To Bake or not to Bake...
I used to have my own Cake business several years ago. It was pretty successful and was by word of mouth only, I didn't work very hard at getting my name out there. After going back to work full time, not that my business wasn't full time, my family never viewed it as a real job, I retired from baking. I enjoyed making people happy and being able to challenge myself of the different designs of cakes I could create. Today, I noticed a post that a friend of mine in SC had up on facebook. It peaked my interest since it was a very cute baby shower cake (belly cake) http://thedoughdough.blogspot.com/ (Life of a Dough Dough) and have or had always wanted to try my hand at fondant icing. Now that my large dog is no longer with us and I don't deal with any shedding issues either, leaves me with wonder IF I should ever start my cake decorating again?
Would I have time?
Would it be worth it?
How would I compete with supermarket cakes?
Not to mention, I would want to improve my technique and try using fondant for sure.
Here are a few cakes from the past that were successful.

Little Mermaid was pretty popular

101 Dalmatians

Snoopy was fun

Weddings were my favorite

I loved doing the detailed work on this one.
