It really IS Friday the 13th!

Thursday the 12th I thought was bad enough with my husband, the Dr., the infected ankle (I still think it is poison ivy) and the hospital admittance and .. the stay from HELL for him.. but that is another story. I picked him up from the hospital today during lunch hour took him home and when I got back to work, I found a very STRANGE young man in my Directors office!!!! I am sure he was searching for something to take! I immediately asked him if I could HELP HIM??? And he said he was looking for a job .. right.. I don't think so. First of all the Office door was CLOSED, 2nd, it is on the 2nd floor of our building where there is a Receptionist to ask for that assistance, 3rd of all ... he wasn't wearing any suit or tie to be really "looking". I know exactly what he was looking for. After the fact, I thought I should have assisted him to the first floor and get him NABBED for good, but I didn't think quick enough and he got away. Our office called the Police, I gave all the descriptions I could but I am sure he is long gone. We don't think he took anything and really hoping my interruption scared him away forever!!!! The whole episode just made me MAD! How DARE he and honestly WHO does that??? Who on earth would walk OFF the street and just go find a random office to find something to steal??? Ok, so I am naive, hey, I grew up in a town of 3000 people but come on, that takes a lot of nerve.

GRRRRRRR!!!!

1) Sadly it is too common. Several years back my office was burglarized on a Saturday. The guy got into a secure building, up an elevator that requires a key-card, into our suite which requires a key-card and stole some items (I don't remember the details). Obviously this had to be planned--he was able to get too far into an area that should have been safe. If they want to, they will. Scary and frustrating. I can't comprehend someone feeling they have that right but obviously some do and will have no hesitation to shoot someone over it too. It's a sad world at times.

2) At one of my jobs in London I worked in a building with a locked outer door and other small businesses shared the 3 or 4 floors. Each had its own door too. One day the graphic design firm had a visitor when everyone was out to lunch. One of the guys came back and disturbed him as he was running out with a computer.

3) Probably someone needing a fix. Very random and scary.

4) I failed to mention above ... we suspect he is a repeat visitor, last summer he, if it was the same he, went upstairs to the same office (our dept. didn't occupy that office at the time) and stole a valuable item from it and also left on a bike like he did today. But this time two of us saw him close up!

6) Nope, not as tall and a little younger, but he was a bike rider ... and I had thought about Dave when I saw the bike parked next to the building. I don't think they ride on the same path.
