Introducing Addison Faith Hall!!!Alisa and I are proud to announce the arrival of our much-awaited little angel, Addison Faith Hall!!! Addison made her entry into the world on Tuesday, December 30th just past noon (right in time for the nurse team to go on lunch break, as they put it). She weighed in at 7lbs 1oz and at 19 in long. She is a beautiful baby girl, and we can't wait to share her with every one of you!
Baby Addison has her own sense of timing (like both of her parents), as she kept us waiting through 40+ hours of active labor! Alisa passed her mucous plug on Sunday night around 8pm. She had no luck sleeping through the night as contractions started to build in duration and intensity. She woke me up at 3:30am on Monday, and we began to document the contractions. She woke me up again at 4:00am because I was snoring in the middle of a contraction (not a good idea). I had a pot of coffee ready by 4:15am! After coffee, I was awake enough to break out our Childbirth Guide from the classes we took back in November.
The journey continued downstairs for the next few hours, back labor pains more frequest by the minute. I can't tell if her pain here is from labor or the fact that I thought it was a good time to throw on the movie "The Last Dragon" and munch on some cheese toast!
At about 9:30 on Monday morning, Alisa and I were concerned by the lack of fetal movement and increasingly tough contractions. We called the doctor, and they decided that they would squeeze us in within the hour, just to make sure all was well. The car was packed to about 50%, and we decided to go ahead and throw everything else in the minivan "just in case". We arrived at the doctor's office and discussed the lack of activity. They showed great concern, and medicated Alisa with a drug called Coca-Cola. This ancient herbal remedy, Coca-Cola, did the trick and Addison was movin' and shakin' in no time! Doc decided on an ultrasound as a final check to see if everything was OK, and SUPRISE...Mommy's water had been broken for an undetermined amount of time!!! Doc's game plan was, "Let's go have a baby". He walked us over to delivery, checked us in around noon, and the fun began.
I would not have dared take a photo over the next 4-5 hour period. We'll title this period in time as "Pre-Epidural".
Late afternoon, an anesthesiologist that looked like Clint Eastwood plus 10 years and some scrubs, brought the goods. This is "Post-Epidural"! ...and on the 8th day, God made the Epidural!!!
Alisa went into "Warrior-Mode"! Overnight she worked hard to continue the dilation process, with the aid of a little pitocin! One of our favorite doctors, Dr. Little of Huntersville OBGYN, made the call around 5am to hold off on a C-Section and continue the slow journey toward a vaginal delivery. At 8am, Dr Hildebrand (I now forgive him for being a UNC-CH grad) pronounced that Alisa had finally reached 8cm and we would proceed with the task at hand. Our favorite nurse, Tricia, helped Alisa work her way to the full 10cm. Another favorite, Doctor Sharawy, rolled in around 11am to finish the game! On Tuesday December 30th, at 12:05pm, Addison Faith Hall took her first breath and became our new best friend! Weighing in at 7lbs, 1oz.... The babyweight champion of the day... Addison Faith Hall!!!
After some skin-on-skin with her favorite Mommy, Daddy grabbed his little angel for a teary-eyed photo!
Mommy did soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good, I can't even tell you how proud I am. Here they are, what a moment!
Jason Alexander previously opened the "poop-door" with little Sam's blowout! I thought I'd show you my first diaper change, a very proud moment in Daddyhood!
An amazingly beautiful baby girl...
An amazingly happy family...
And the "passing of the human torch", the beginning of a mad game of "Grandma Olympics"! Michael Phelps has nothing on these proud Grandmothers!
Addison was ready to come home on Thursday at noon, the greatest way ever to start our New Year! Once home, Daddy got jealous of the skin-on-skin time with Mommy, and took to the couch for some hair-on-hair action!
And Mommy did the rest! My wife and my daughter! My love is so much greater than I ever imagined!
Love to all who prayed and wished-well for this glorious miracle. We love you all, and will look forward to seeing you soon!
