Friday, August 29th, 2008My Experience First of all I would like to thank all of you who sent words, thoughts and prayers of support our way. I apologize for making you wait for this but....I have been a little busy.
As many of you know Matt and I became parents Tuesday evening. Here is my experience.
EARLY Tuesday morning at 2:00am my water broke. I woke up instantly knowing what it was and I woke Matt. It was just like in the movies. I sat straight up in bed Matt jumps up out of bed throwing clothes on racing to get to the hospital. We stop for a second and begin to think. So we call the doctor who tell us to take our time since there are no contractions. I get a shower and we get ready to leave. We have an hour drive and we drop Vader off with Matt's parents. Contractions have begun but aren't too bad. We arrive and are admitted around 4:00. My doula, Diane, arrives around 5:00 and we start working to get labor going strong. Walking the halls for 30-60 minute intervals with 30 minutes of being hooked up to the monitors really got things going. By noon I was 5cm and 80% and realizing quickly labor has changed from painful to unbelievably excruciating. I was not going to be a hero and requested pain relief. By 1:00 I had an epidural. My right leg from the thigh down felt like a tree trunk but I could feel everything else, and MAN-O-MAN I could feel everything else. AND IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!! The doctor came back in and tried to work with the existing epi but ended up redoing the epi around 2-2:30. I was feeling a whole lot better by 3:00. Matt and I ended up taking a nap for an hour and during that time I became complete. After an hour of pushing and vacuumed assistance our son was born at 6:02PM. I don't remember much after his birth because I had a bad reaction to all the anestisia and was out of it until about 10:00 that evening. Below you fill find pictures...which is what I know you are waiting for! Enjoy. We are.

I hope you are all doing well, and I want to tell Matt that I heard he did a wonderful job coaching and helping you at the hospital. I know you a had a rough time , and it was all worth it when you can look into the eyes of that beautiful baby and know that he is a miracle, and that ya'll are his mommy and daddy.
