weird!
I used to collect the locust shells when I was a kid. My mom would find them smashed up in my pockets.
I hate locusts.
Are they the same as cicadas? Around here that's what we've got--nasty little (well kinda big) guys. They don't bite but they get stuck in your hair. Makes me cringe just thinking about it!
Locust is just a more general term than cicada. Locust can refer to lots of flying, grasshopper bugs, including cicadas, which are the guys singing in the trees.
I thought a locust was more of a grasshopper than a katydid or cicada. Learn something new every day.
