MLB 2018 Game #23: NLCS Game 1 – Dodgers vs. Brewers
by Bill Pearch, Friday, October 12, 2018
Tonight, the Milwaukee Brewers are hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers, the defending National League champions, at Miller Park. Game One of the National League Championship Series feature a pitching matchup between Los Angeles' three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw (9-5, 2.73 ERA) and Milwaukee's Gio Gonzalez (10-11, 4.21 ERA).
The Brewers made quick work of the Colorado Rockies during the NLDS and the Dodgers needed one more than the minimum to send the Atlanta Braves packing. Milwaukee is still seeking its first World Series title in franchise history, and its first pennant since 1982. While the Dodgers fell one win short of a title last year, they still pursuing their first title in 30 years.
During late July, unbeknownst to me, I caught an NLCS preview. On July 21, Kershaw toed the rubber for the Dodgers at Miller Park. The Brewers got the best of Los Angeles' ace that evening. He allowed four runs, only one earned, in six innings pitched. Milwaukee' Christian Yelich, potential NL MVP, was 2-for-4 with a solo home run.
