MLB 2019 Game #10: Rockies vs. Yankees
by Bill Pearch, Sunday, July 21, 2019

Today, six former players will be enshrined in Cooperstown, New York but we arent headed there. This afternoon, we are headed back to Yankee Stadium for an interleague matchup between the Colorado Rockies (46-52, .469) and the New York Yankees (64-33, .660).

The two teams are headed in opposite directions. The Rockies are tied with the San Diego Padres (46-52, .469) for last place in the National League West. They have dropped six consecutive games and have only won two of their last 10. Today, the hope to avoid being swept out of the Bronx.

Over in the American League East, the Yankees sit atop the division with a 10-game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays (56-45, .554).

Colorado will send 24-year-old German Marquez (8-5, 5.12 ERA) to the mound. I saw him pitch earlier this season, on June 5, against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. New York will answer with 30-year-old James Paxton (5-4, 3.94 ERA).

Fun Fact I: My first trip to see the Yankees play in New York was 19 years ago at old Yankee Stadium. That game took place on September 1, 2000 against the Minnesota Twins.

Fun Fact II: My first trip to new Yankee Stadium was on September 25, 2011. It was a matchup against their longtime rival, the Boston Red Sox.
