MLB 2019 Game #15: Brewers vs. Cubs
by Bill Pearch, Friday, August 30, 2019
My Labor Day weekend starts a little earlier than normal today. This afternoon I am headed to Wrigley Field for a matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers (68-65, .511) and the Chicago Cubs (72-61, .541). Today, I am being treated to a game courtesy of a fellow SABR Chicago member. Back in May, we started highlighting our chapter's members and helping to share their baseball stories. For my first article, I told the story of how Bob Dean -- born and raised near St. Louis -- started out as a St. Louis Cardinals fan, but ultimately became a Cubs fan. You can read that article here. Enjoy.
With both teams still involved in the National League Central and wild card races, today's game could play a critical role as September is just around the corner. The Brewers will send 31-year-old Chase Anderson (6-3, 4.34 ERA) to the mound. The Cubs will counter with 30-year-old Jose Quintana (11-8, 4.05 ERA).
These two teams will see a lot of each other as the calendar flips from August to September. This afternoon's game opens a three-game series with Milwaukee in Chicago. After a brief two-game set against the Seattle Mariners, the Cubs will travel north for a four-game series at Miller Park.
