Speed

I definitely intended to upload my "speed" picture. I even took quite a few...several of which I was going to Photoshop into a really awesome end product (at least the way I see it in my head). Then I got busy with school and going out with teacher friends...and it didn't happen.
But here's one of the pictures I took (which Mr. Shoo ganked and put on his site.

Clancy really likes to chase tennis balls. He's even kind of figuring out he has to bring them back to us if he wants to chase it again. So, we kind of play fetch. This is him running after the ball. I have a series of these that I want to put together to see the progression of Mr. Shoo throwing the ball and Clancy running after it. I'll do it eventually...if I don't forget about it first.

4) What kind of archaic vernacular is that?

5) Oh....nice pic by the way....I like the Doggie. Best off without Photoshop because Dave and Denny have a sophisticated Photoshopped Image detector which automatically renders offending images disqualified.

6) I didn't get it up in time to enter it anyway...so I can Photoshop. Yes, I'm an English teacher with a slang appreciation....so long as it's somewhat grammatically correct.

7) Slang is OK. My view is that if the slang is good enough and lasts the test of time it is a candidate for canonization into a dictionary. Its all part of the evolution of language.

8) I feel the same way. Also, it's sometimes a much more effective way of expressing something.
Example: "Oh, no. I dropped a hammer on my foot." vs. "Damn. I smashed my toe!!" Which is more effective??

9) Bad example. I'm not on my A-game tonight.

10) I use the former. Being a proper Englishman, I always put my brain into gear before talking. Of course, I never ever swear either. ;-)

11) I love swear-words. I try to use them sparingly for the best effect, but nothing can beat a well-placed four-letter word. (Yet another reason I can't have kids. Mine would constantly be in trouble for foul language.)

12) Hmmm...depends upon their pronunciation of said "swear words." My mother-in-law's favorite one is DAMMIT! and our son, Galvin (3), picked it up like this: dah mutt --now, if you have a sharp ear, you'll get it, but regardless, it sends many folks into fits of laughter when he says it completely in the right context. Of course, that one is coupled with the hubby's favorite DUMBASS! Galvin pronounces that one: dum bass. Totally hilarious! And the only bad word he's picked up from me, The Momma, is JESUS! He uses it at the most appropriate times, like the other day when Daddy dropped something on the kitchen floor, scaring the bejeezus out of us in the living room, Galvin shouted, "Jesus, Daddy! What happened?!"

Therefore, it's fine. Have children.
