I love summer school...

Today was another one of those days...a student "told" me to F*** off. I put told in quotes because he actually drew it on Microsoft Paint...

Good times.

I got to go get my hair did after though. It's a bit shorter and super-cute. So, not a bad day...just annoying for a bit.

1) You should have put him in stocks, not quotes. That way the other kids could have thrown rotten vegetables at him.

2) LG, that actually made me laugh...really loudly. I even woke the dogs up.

3) When are they going to start letting you use nerf bats on those little snots?! Maybe step it up to wiffle bats on days like this one.
By the way, did you go to the Muni? How was it?

4) I admire you - I could not teach - I love my children and I love some other children - but I could not teach kids all day long - I am not sure I could even stay home with my kids all day long

5) Wow...MS Paint. No wonder he was in such a foul mood. Set that hooligan up with Photoshop and you won't have anymore problems.

6) I'm thinkin maybe telling him something like.... "not fond of the sentiment, but you get a B+ for creativity" Mostly he'd have just thought you'd lost your mind. But it always makes me feel better about the situation. :)

7) I love how people think that Chatham kids/schools are so superior. These are no better and no worse than kids going to Southeast, Lanphier, etc.

8) Soundchick -
You couldn't tell that to my mother. She still blames every bad thing I did in my teenage years on me convincing my dad to switch me from SHG to Southeast lol!

9) If anything, SHG is worse than most! Too many cliques!

10) Ames, the Muni was good. I didn't like the adaptation of The Secret Garden, but my cousin and all the others sang beautifully.

The nice thing about summer school is there are no chances. They either behave or they're out...it really should be that way all year round.

12) It had the stylist style today (which I usually dislike), but I'll definitely take some pictures tomorrow. Even after I told Chris once in the morning and twice in the afternoon that I was getting my hair done, he still didn't notice it when he got home. Men!

13) I just watched The Blackboard Jungle again the other night. Can't remember how long it has been since I saw it but people thought kids were out of control then--but only in the bad parts of town! I can't imagine what kind of trouble I would have gotten into at school mouthing off at a teacher, much less using language like that. If the school didn't handle me...my parents sure would have! Amazing that they aren't expelled and be done with them until they learn better or at least apologize and ask to come back. Guess I am living in a Disney-based world.

15) I am with Linda here - whatever form of punishment I would have received at school wouldn't compare to what I got at home!!! Here's a comarison between today and back then:

Back Then-
Student: F*** off
School: paddled your ass
Parents: smack, bam

Today-
Student: F*** off
School: let's have a parent conference
Parent: what did the teacher do to provoke this kind
of behavior from my little angel who never has
used a nasty word??!!

16) My mother would have washed my mouth out with soap. As a matter of fact she did and I didn't even say anthing as bad as the F word. That would have...oh I can't even think about what punishment that would have been. My parents ALWAYS sided with the teachers. I wouldn't have dreamed of talking back to a teacher let alone saying what your student did.

17) Way back when I went to school in Spfld--- UA was max. security and SHG was minimun security facilities.
I got lucky and transferred from UA to SHG when we moved across town.

18) SSHS was pretty dang scary sometimes. I almost got my a$$ kicked on the stairwell because I was walking too slow, even though there were about 57 people in front of me going the same speed.
A kid in my class got his head smashed through a classroom window for accidentally bumping into someone. (In fact, I think that was right next to !'s classroom.)

19) Not sure I remember anything scary happen at SSHS. I do remember the days when the front doors were the main doors and they were unlocked. A girl I knew was walking with the rest of us changing classes and her boyfriend walked right in, waited for her to pass, and beat the crap out of her.

I was not surprised when I visited there a year ago and the front doors are no longer used..
