Mrs. S Becomes Sarah S.

I figured this would be a bit more difficult for students to find...but maybe not.

More on Homecoming later tonight.

1) If you want to be anonymous with your students, you'll have to lose the shoe Avatar, I think.

2) In schools teachers should never be on a first name with their students because it destroys the chain of command or authority structure.

3) Angi, you're probably right...and that's one of my kids' favorite pair of shoes.

Bean, first off, calling me "Mrs." isn't what gives me authority. My authority is based on respect, not forced conventions. Second, a careful reading would show I'm not asking my students to call me by my first name (not because I'd have a problem with it, but because my admin. more than likely would). I'm hiding from them.

4) In my secondary school the most loved and respected teacher got his authority via a big stick. He was awesome. I'd be amazed if he was still alive because he was as old as the hills then and that was over 20 years ago.

5) Ha. I do have a paddle in the back of my room. Maybe that's where my authority comes from.

6) My husband had a male teacher in grade school that would rub my hubby's and others' ear lobes while he helped them with their math. Is that not freaky or what?

7) Ew. That's weird. I'm wondering if that teacher ever came up when the kids were shown the stranger-danger/bad touching video.

8) I just did a quick google of your old username, and all sorts of things come up with your name. Can Dave or Denny change your account name, too because I think that is what is finding all of the things.

9) Jenn, there's really no escape for Mrs. S from the Google gods and her students. I've used the nickname 'Shoo' way before Mrs. S and I were a couple and I am littered all over the internet.

Most of the Shoo references were probably to me. Although there must be another Mrs. S - http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/889709d2a1

We talked about it the other night, there's really not much, even if her students do find her online, that she should be worried about. Knitting projects and dog pictures.

10) I empathize with Sarah, she must feel stalked sometimes and kids just like to be nosy.

11) Shoo, you will endorse the NRA when one of your students tries to hold you up on the way home.

12) Bean-fart. I am not the teacher. My wife is.

14) Bean, I'm really not sure what that has to do with my name. Also, I work in a very affluent district...not to many drive-bys at the school. Even if there were *I* wouldn't support the NRA. I can't speak for my husband though.

Also, he's a gynecologist.

15) Jenn (I didn't want to respond to you in a comment to Bean...I figured I'd keep the stupidity to a minimum), I don't think I'll be completely eliminated from the internet with my husband being what he is, but I feel less teacher-ish with my name as Sarah instead of Mrs. S.
