I play with tape...
Yup. I have rolls of tape. I prefer double-sided tape. My husband finds tape stuck to the bottom of his sock. It's an odd habit...one that annoys my husband to no end.

I also play with tape for a reason. I'm a kinesthetic learner. I learn best by doing. If someone gives me directions, I get lost; whereas, if I drive somewhere, typically I can easily find the same place again. Once I've done something, I can do it again pretty easily.
I also have to be moving constantly. I'm rarely able to hold still. I'm at my best if I'm up and moving around or actually doing something. I've always said I do my best thinking in the shower...because I'm doing something. This is where the tape comes in (not the shower)...it gives me something to do with my hands.

When I was a kid, I used to fold or tear up small pieces of paper. I'd have little pieces of confetti on my desk by the end of class. My teachers used to think it was some issue with me. They thought I was obsessive compulsive. I always thought I was an oddball. It wasn't until college that I learned about different types of learners and realized maybe I'm not so strange.

What kind of learner are you? This is definitely geared toward students, but it's still interesting.

1) Humzoo'rs... she didn't bust out the tape until we had been dating for at least 6 months. She drives me crazy with it.

2) I am a visual and NOT auditory. My husband is the opposite which drives him crazy. For 8 years I have been telling him DO NOT tell me directions, lists, phone numbers, etc...Write them down and I will remember.

3) I am visual as well. Interesting test. I was close on all of the types but one A tipped the scale. I definitely do better with watching something done than someone giving me directions verbally. Or worse, telling me what to type. I have never been able to take dictation! :) Never been as good reading about something then doing it than if it is done and I watch it. Someone years ago in my company mentioned I am an audio-visual type. Definitely.

5) I need audio, visual and hands-on learning to really connect. Of course, my husband can simply read something or hear it, and he's got it. For life.

6) justmeg, I'm actually visual-kinesthetic as well. I just see the kinesthetic manifest itself more in the way I learn. I suppose for me it's more obvious than the visual aspect. If I read something, I can memorize precisely where it was on a page and recall it later. I can see a picture and "get it" immediately. But tell me something, and it's lost forever.

7) Wow, cool test it actually nailed me perfectly.

I am an auditory learner.

In high school my religion teacher told my parents that he thought I was cheating because on the essay tests I would write down verbatim what he talked about during class a month earlier. He thought it was sort of scary.

Sarah, sometimes when people ask me a question or if I am at a trivia night, I may not know the answer outright, but I will know what it starts with or what it sounds like. I sort of go through a mental filing cabinet.

8) Interesting, I got 2 As, 3 Bs, and 3 Cs. Both descriptions seem to fit a bit.

9) I love the analogy of a mind and a file cabinet. That's how I feel sometimes. I can see the pages and pick through them sometimes.

10) I'll take the test too but think it will come out that I am visual/doer kind of learner. If I have to learn by a book I love lots of pictures and brief text. But of course I'd rather do it myself while someone tells me what to do.

Each nite I usually eat a square or two of that lovely dove chocolate. I ALWAYS fold the wrapper in half and then in thirds and play/fiddle with it while we are watching tv, it drives jason nuts but I find it so comforting ;)
