deuce deaton- thirty-seven weeks in utero
I am currently 37 weeks and 1 day, and I had a doctor's appointment this morning. I made up from the last few weeks and gained a few pounds. I am now measuring 40 weeks, so my doctor thinks the baby has dropped some. The group B strep test came back negative, so no worries there. Deuce's heartbeat was 160 bpm again, and he/she was moving around like crazy. I was measured and am still 1 cm dilated, but my cervix has thinned out 50% (which changed from last time).

Right now I am scheduled for an induction at 7am on March 30th. My doctor feels like everything should go fine with the induction. She said I already get a couple of points for birthing a big baby vaginally the first time around. We discussed stripping my membranes next Thursday though so that it would help with the induction. At the same time that could put me into labor early.

Anyone have any guesses on when this baby will come? Does everyone think it will be the 30th? Maybe I have guessed wrong about the sex, and we have another little girl on the way. Who knows! I still need to pack my hospital bag.

I do know that Dylan wants to share her new "princess" shoes with the baby. She said, "Isn't that so nice of me?"

1) That's so very nice of her! I'm still betting on a girl. I was right about BM2! :)

Stripping membranes--that doesn't sound very comfortable. :)

Get that hospital bag packed--Deuce could decide to beat the induction!!

2) I think you get extra points for using phrases like "vaginally" and "stripping my membranes" on the Internet. Good luck with everything, call me after it's born.

3) I hate the membrane stripping. It hurts so much. I think that if it's offered to me this time, I'll skip it. Have you been having contractions?

4) Merritt, just irregular ones. Nothing with a pattern. I am not sure if we will do the membrane stripping or not. I just want the induction to work well this time, so that is why we are considering it.

5) I have irregular ones too (that I can feel). I actually was back at L&D on Friday night because I hadn't felt any movement all day. Everything was fine except that I was having regular contractions (that I couldn't feel, but that lasted a long time according to the monitor) so they ended up giving me the shot again. Did you do the stripping last time? I'm sure that you did since you were overdue. I had it done twice last time and whew that really hurt.

6) No, I did not have the stripping done last time. Instead they did a cervical ribbon the night before at the hospital and started the induction the next morning. Sorry to hear you were back at L&D. You could have your baby before me! You are so close to 37 weeks.

7) No way that I'm having this baby before you. I doubt that I'll even be early. They talked about doing some sort of gel the night before at the hospital with me if I ended up having to have an induction.

8) Evening Primrose oil can help ripen your cervix.

9) It's true, I used Evening Primose oil in the form of a tablet. You can do it orally or another way (we can talk about :) )

Good luck!! We are thinking about you every day sooo excited!
I'm thinking baby will come before the 30th!
