5 Years
Tomorrow is my 5th wedding anniversary. Denny & I met back in college at the University of NC at Wilmington in June of 1999. He was on his last semester and I still had 1 1/2 years to go. He broke up with his girlfriend after he met me (they were on the rocks), and we started dating (he couldn't pass up a good thing).
After graduation, Denny moved to Lake Norman to take a job in Charlotte and be close to his family, and I continued school at Wilmington. We spent 1 long year of driving back and forth on weekends to see each other (4 hour drive), usually no more than twice a month. After I graduated, I moved to Winston to be close to my family and took a job in Greensboro. We then spent 2 1/2 long years of driving back and forth to see each other on weekends (only 1 hour drive this time) before getting married on May 17, 2003 and settling down in Lake Norman.
It is kind of hard going from a weekend relationship to then being with someone all of the time. We have had our fair share of ups and downs in the past 9 years of being together, but it has all been worth it. No one can make me laugh quite like Denny (sometimes at him and not with him). And we have the best daughter ever (that was definitely a nice addition to our marriage). Also, Denny does a whole lot of cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other odds and ends so it is a very fair marriage.
I know I am not always the easiest person to live with and I am sure the next 5 years will be a roller coaster as well, but I could not think of a better person to be on that roller coaster with then my husband, Denny. So here's to laughter, love, and husbands who do chores.
I love you, Denny!

I love you, Denny!
I know exactly what you guys went through with the long distance relationship thing.
:-)
More importantly I wanted to point this out. Thank you for publicizing this, and I quote you "it is a very fair marriage". There have been times (yes, recently) when it didn't appear to be so fair on your side. I guess you have come to your senses.
By the way, when you get home there is a big pile of laundry for you to fold. The dogs need a bath. And the grass is getting a little high for my liking. It will probably be getting dark after all that so you'll need to get back in the kitchen where you belong.
I love you too Nix and I am looking forward to tomorrow.
Love you,
Yay!!
I am calling Marcus to make sure he rings the gong for you tomorrow
Much love from Greenville
