Ethiopian Food
Last night I had a girl's night and met some of my "mommy friends" out at the Ethiopian restaurant in Charlotte. For those of you in the area interested in trying it out it is called Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant (on King's Drive).
The food was very delicious and I highly recommend trying out the food if you ever have a chance. Ethiopian food is served without utensils, and you basically take the crepe-like bread and use it to scoop up the food.
We started out with the avocado salad. It was kind of like a very spicy guacamole. Who doesn't like avocados?

We then shared 2 different dishes, the Meskerem Combo and the Special Chicken Tibs. The Meskerem Combo is shown along the outside of the plate and consists of the following: Tibs Wat (prime cooked beef in a pan, then sauteed with berbere), Gomen Besaega (prime beef seasoned with garlic, onions and ginger, then finished with boiled collard greens), Miser Alecha (splint lentils dipped with ginger, garlic, onions, olive oil and curry), and Miser Wat (split lentils with berbere).

The other dish was the Special Chicken Tibs, shown in the middle. It was cubes of boneless chicken seasoned with garlic, onions, fresh tomatoes and finished with awaze sauce. It was kind of sweet and spicy at the same time. Very delicious!

So if you have the opportunity, try it out. There are also many other vegetarian only combos and dishes. I had a great time with Erin & Sara and enjoy trying new things!

(Sorry for the blurry pictures, taken from iphone with unskilled hand).
