Trip so far

After a 15 hour drive we finally arrived in Athens. The weather has been beautiful, in the high 60's low 70's everyday. Knowing we had a significant snow storm back home makes it that much sweeter. On Sunday we drove to Plains, Georgia, birthplace of 39th President Jimmy Carter. We attended church and he was in attendance. He gave a short sermon-like speech and we met him and his wife afterwards. I have photos that will be posted when I return home. It was pretty cool. Anyway, the food has been great and my kids are having a blast out in the country. The people we are staying with have NO TELEVISION! I am a TV junkee so it's been a little difficult. I missed the entire first two rounds of the tournament for the first time EVER! I kept up on scores on my cell, but it's not the same as watching live. That's all the excitement so far but I finally have internet access so I'll post any interesting items I encounter the rest of the way. Later.

2) That's incredible meeting Jimmy Carter. From what I gather, he was just President at the wrong time. Not a lot of people appreciate what he did during the 1970s. My Dad met him a few years ago in Michigan. He said he was just like a normal guy.

3) Had any chance encounters with other surviving US Presidents lately? Guess we don't have that many left these days.

4) No more Presidents yet. We did drive a stretch of highway in Tennessee that was "Al Gore Sr. Memorial Highway". Interstates leading into Tennessee are all marked this way because he was a Senator in the 50's who was involved in the creation of the national interstate system. Just a bit of trivia. And nothing to do with a President.
