NBA Makeup

The NBA made a bit of history Saturday night, playing the last 51.9 seconds of a protested game between two powerhouse squads. The Atlanta Hawks upended the dreadful Miami Heat 114-111 in a redo of the games final seconds. To no ones surprise, neither team score in the alloted time and the game ended with players slightly confused as to what to do next. They did play a full, regularily scheduled game about 15 minutes later. If only Shaq would've been there Miami may have pulled it out...or not. In fact, Shaq was the reason for the original protest. The scorekeeper had mis-counted Shaq's personal foul total and booted him from the game after only 5 fouls. In a stunning turn of events it turns out that Shaq never commits any fouls. Players merely bounce off his gigantic frame or are run over by the diesel as he bursts to the basket in his size 23's. Needless to say, the first game redo since a 1982 game between the Spurs and Lakers sent the Heat to a 11-50 record. That's really not that good. The Hawks, however, remain the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference just one game ahead of the equally bad Chicago Bulls. I guess in retrospect the replay was important to the postseason picture as someone needs to be the Celtics first round victim!

1) Do you remember the NFL game (can't remember if it was two or three seasons ago) that ended, but the players had to be dragged back to the field? I think it was in Miami. The fans started leaving and the emptying the stadium.

2) It would have been better if they would have required Shaq to come back from Phoenix and play those 53 seconds as he was the reason for this mishap.

3) That's what makes it ironic, the fact that the guy who was in question is not involved in the do-over. But it was actually the score keeper's fault for losing track of how many fouls he had picked up. The battle for the 8th spot will rage on until the last game of the season probably. How exciting.
