Friday, February 5th, 2010Take Two We woke up to a repeat of last week's weather with a few differences, its about 10 degrees warmer so its sticking to the trees and lines and there still was quite a bit of snow left from the first snow. I needed to go to the drugstore. One of the benefits of small town living is that the CVS is a block from us.
I put on my boots and snuck out the front door with my camera so Clifford wouldn't see me and want to go to.I'll try not to bore you with the same secenes.
The trees are pretty but two Duke Energy trucks passed me while I was walking and it could get iffy really soon.
These branches are touching our drive and usually I can drive the airstream under them. (A little condensation on my lense.) Well, there was only one employee at CVS and no pharmacist so I walked back home and got my buddy and went to check out the infamous "Cemetery Hill."
The town doesn't plow it so it becomes the local sledding hill. As you can see it can be quite a challenge.
All's quiet!
My neighbor's dog, Marlie came along and had fun making snow doggies.
She also caught a mole which became a ball for her and Cliff.
While I was out walking the snow turned to a sleet and later its suppose to be ice. Its about 35 so I don't know what will happen next.
There are many things good about the snow: the flea and ticks will be less this summer,we are officially out of the drought and our water table is up, I have spent much more time in the studio and finally got this floor mat to the client, who loved it
Its busy but that's what she wanted.A lot of birds, buttterflies, color and flowers.Today I am going to study portraits and work on a few other projects.
Update:We kept losing satellite and the power flickered several times-lost internet. We are fortunate to be on the street with the power transformers so we rarely loose power for extended periods of time but the rest of our county is not doing so well. It rained all night and the temp stayed at 34 so that actually helped the roads but we also have flooding. Our basement was worse than ever and we almost lost the furnace. We smelled something that smelled like burnt wires and the water was two inches up on the furnace. I watched the temp drop in the house and just knew we were looking at a major expense then about 9pm it kicked back on and we were warm all night. We don't have hot water and hopefully we will get the pilot light lit today. I need a shower:>Right now-its snowing, lightly. The back yard is pretty soggy from pumping out the basement, we are in for a muddy mess but I guess it could be worse,we could be in DC!
All is well! Former owner came over to help. He adjusted the ball (?) on the sump pump and got the water heater going. Hot bath in 20 more minutes. Should not have any more flooding(note I said should-LOL)
Anything that minimizes fleas and ticks is a good thing and the water table being better too.
You fake butterflies well!! Might have had to use a book but those birds look great.
Thanks Linda, you are a great cheer leader!
The pictures are awesome, thanks for sharing your walk.
It was almost as if all of us took the same walk with you.
The mat?? Incredibly nice..
Who could dare step on that~???
