Gas 3.69 + Ford Focus=road trip

I have been patiently waiting for the gas situation to stabilize so I could go and see my Grand kids and some special friends in Huntersville.
Actually I have decided to "adopt" Cami and Sherrie as part of my extended family.
We had a great lunch and visit and I just got the biggest kick out of watching Cami eat her ice cream and tell us all about her Halloween outfit. I just know she is going to have a ball with her new sister Delilah and Mom will definitely be busy.
Its so amazing to watch a new baby grow and little Charlotte has certainly changed.
She really doesn't sleep all the time now and at seven weeks she has already started to smile when she hears familiar voices. The first time she did it I just thought it was the "gas" thing but she does it frequently and it is just so cute.
That's a little one but I wish I could have caught her when her big sister started talking to her. They are going to have a special bond.
She is holding her head up and overall is just doing great.
I took Caroline over to visit her cousins and had a fun surprise when Davis gave me a grin.
Caroline is jealous because she hasn't lost a tooth yet!It was a pretty day and they decided to have a race on the sidewalk. Ella was the official starter.
As you can see she had pizza for supper and decided to wear her knee socks in a most fashionable way.It was a short but sweet visit and now that I have my "kid" fix I will be happy for awhile.

3) It's interesting you mentioned gas prices. I looked at the place I usually go that has the best price close to me (barring the cheap stuff I don't use) and noticed it had dropped to $3.22. I was shocked to see it that low. Dare we contemplate dropping below $3 again in my lifetime??

Looks like you had a great visit and it was worth every penny and gas problem!

7) If someone can explain to me why the gas prices bounce around like a yo-yo on a string and why we didn't have any gas delivered for a month = I would appreciate it. I would be very happy to see our gas go to 3.22 but was just grateful it wasn't sitting on 3.99 any more.I just feel like we are being so lied to over what the real deal is that I just want to throw something at the news. I have cancelled the newspaper but I still like to watch GMA in the morning. Sorry, just had to vent a little. I bought a Ford Explorer so I would have room for 4 car seats and then had to turn around and sell it because I couldn't afford to drive it to go and see the grand kids. Grrrrrrr....

8) Dannie,

The true bottleneck in the oil supply chain are the refineries. We havent built a new refinery in the US in over 25 years. Plus, due to multiple emissions requirements in each section of the country, most refineries are operating at around 99% capacity. If one goes offline for maintenance or accidents, then the supply quickly gets squeezed and prices skyrocket.

9) OK-I get that but why such a swing in prices-why are they down to below $3 in Miss. when a few months ago we were afraid it was going to hit $5. I understand thatt each state has a different tax...thanks for trying I know the issue probably could take a book to sort out.

10) Gasoline is $3.699/gal. at a Wilco Station on Main Drag in Smithfield,NC the other stations in are hovering at $3.749/gal. These stations are less than 5 miles from the terminus of a pipe line spur..

11) One kinker that Ihave found out about is: The distributors (convenience store operators) are adding between $.12 and $.15 per gallon to compensate themselves for lost sales when people use the point of sale credit terminals.

12) dannie - alot of the reason is it cheaper here is because we are closer to the distribution centers on the coast. There is not a huge transportation fee tacked onto our shipments

13) We just dropped to $1.18 a liter. It's the first time it's been under $1.25 in months.

15) I've given that some thought but you know every country has its own bag of issues.

16) Looks like fun. I am still on the same 1/2 tank of gas I had before this gas crisis. That is the awesome thing about riding the bus to Charlotte for work!

17) Niki, isn't riding the bus great for mileage and gas requirements? :) I have a car that is 8 years old with only 28,000+ on it and it takes me at least 30 days (sometimes more!) to use a tank of gas. The bus can be a nuisance at times and it does add time to my commute but it's great to sit back, listen to my book, and leave the driving and stress to someone else (as well as the fuel usage!). :)

18) I think if you add up liters at the price mentioned above to reach gallons in the States, that price isn't far off what you are paying, Angi. Maybe I'm wrong.

19) I wish we had decent bus service here - but we don't - I live in the suburbs of Jackson and there is no bus service out here at all and even the bus service that there is - doesn;t run to where my office is

20) I had the same problem in MN, Meg. Not the greatest for mass transit options. Luckily I had a short commute and free parking there but I was disappointed that I couldn't use the bus more. Portland is very good for mass transit and doesn't have that many places that don't have some bus or train option. Some are better than others for time but the city and surrounding cities are supported.
