VERY SCARY MOMENT
At supper tonight. My three year old choked on a grape. She has been eating them whole for a while now so I thought nothing of it. PLEASE CUT UP THE GRAPES FOR YOUR CHILDREN!!! It was bad enough I called 911 and I don't do that. Actually first time ever and my oldest is almost 10. But when the baby heimlich NOR the adult one was working I started to panic. We DID get it out but had the EMT's check her out anyway cause I was squeezing pretty hard. I think the saddest thing was she was scared of me when it was all said and done. : ( She just kept crying..."Mommy you hurt me!" I wanted to cry!

1) Yes, choking is extremely scary, I agree! I just stopped cutting my son's grapes in half because he refused to eat grapes now when they are cut. But, when he was really little (he is 3 now), we called 911 twice for choking. He had so much trouble chewing his food. After about 15 weeks/2 hours/week of OT, we've finally solved the problem!
2) Choking is my secret phobia. I can't even stand to see my 20 year old dd eat hard candy. We call it "chokin candy" in our house. I'm sooo glad your daughter is okay tonight. I know it must have been such a scary time for you. How did you finally dislodge the grape? Did you do something different or did the techniques you were trying eventually work?
3) I've had to "hurt" my son twice in his life to save it...she'll forgive you. You're a good Momma!
4) I finally got it out when I dropped to my knees with her in my arms and said...."Please God" and gave it one more thrust..she fell onto her hands and knees and the grape came out. I believe in the power of prayer and the one I gave was short, sweet, to the point and TOTALLY sincere. lol
5) My god! I'm almost in tears! That is so scary but such a relief that she's ok! Sometimes short, sweet, and sincere is all it takes!
