Breech Baby

I am on week 35! I can't believe it! Everything has gone really well so far. Almost too good really. I have gained minimal weight so far - which I thank my parents for because it must be genetics, and other than back and hip pain, I have had pretty good energy. I think it helps that I run around after kids most of the day. You would be surprised at how much energy kids at the hospital really have!
So, we were kind of surprised to find out that Sam is breeched. He is apparently a little confused and thinks that he can come out sideways. I wasn't really all that surprised when the doctor told us because I had been dealing with something very hard up in my ribs (his head) and lots of kicks that felt like - well not good and very low down. So, after getting some great advice from cousin Randy we decided that we would try just about anything to get this boy to turn on his own.
I immediately went to an acupuncturist and then (by his request) have followed up with moxibustion. It is a little far fetched sounding, but Sam sure does move around when we do the moxibustion. Moxibustion is in a charcoal stick form and we burn it close to the outside of my pinky toes. It is supposed to help circulate blood and in effect - turn the baby. So, we are on day 6 and are supposed to do the moxibustion for 10 days. He is moving lots, but his head is still pretty much in the same place. At least he is trying!
So, we shall see. Our next step will be to contemplate Version in which the doctors lube up my belly and try to turn him from the outside.
Otherwise, it will be a c-section. Either way, I just would like him to stay in there a little longer and for him to be healthy and happy when he enters our lives!
We are getting ready!

1) Come on Sammy! I realllyyyyyy hope he turns around on his own. There is still a little time for him to go for the big dive. I have never heard of Moxibustion??? Sounds interesting. I feel so happy to have another nephew and a niece coming into the world just weeks apart! I'm busting at the seams with joy!

2) There is still time for Sammy to move, but if not I just can't wait to see the healthy little guy. I can't believe you are in the final stretch!

3) Niki,
Please be careful using the word "stretch" when referring to pregnant women. That is not something they like to hear. Come on you know this!

Sarah,
Awesome news, the Moxibustion sounds really neat. Will that work after I eat Mexican too? Please report back. Thanks.

4) Thanks for the update Sarah. Sounds like you've got a really positive attitude about the whole thing. We'll be pulling for Sam to turn around!

5) Sarah, fear not! Some babies don't like to stand on their heads. There is still time for the little one to turn. Mine all turned late. They liked the drama I guess.

Good luck! Oh, and try getting on all fours a few times a day. It apparently helps.

6) Maybe you should watch Olympic diving with Sam. THen he could see how he's supposed to pull out of his pike (how appropriate) and dive in/out head first. Go Sam!

See you tomorrow!

It sure is going to be fun to have 2 more kids close to the same age.How is Daddy holding out? We are very much on baby watch for little girl Rogers.
