This is Why I Hate Political Parties
This was taken directly from GOP.com:
Republican Principles
I'm a Republican Because...
I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least.
I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
I definitely feel the Republican party is hypocritical on the 2nd item, unless I am just misinterpreting. Equal for all? They oppose civil unions and gay marriage. How is that equal? Most of the rest of the principles listed I agree with as well.
Now the Democrats:
It's so "wordy" that I couldn't just paste a list. I'll have to settle for a link:
http://www.democrats.org/a/party/stand.html
I agree with most of this as well, until I start clicking on the links to read more about an issue, such as Vets/Military. I get redirected to another page that starts yapping about the McCain campaign and George W. Bush. What? I wanted to hear the Democrat's view. Lordy!
Is anyone else out there a frustrated Independant voter?

Why is it that people think that republicans do not follow the above statement?
Is it because republicans want to give a dollar in wages for a dollar earned? Or do people expect republicans to give more than a dollar for a dollar earned? The republicans are the ones who freed the slaves, who fought for civil rights. Somehow the democrats have been able to take over ownership of this issue and I dont know why.
Does it come down to affirmative action? Where we reward the lesser person. I dont buy into the fact that people in America of all races, creeds, sexes (all 3 of em), dont have an equal or fair chance. I can point you to Barack Obama as a person who has gained much in this country, or Martha Stewart. There are dozens of examples.
