The Rest of the LGrant Story!!!
If you read LGrant's blog (http://www.humzoo.com/lgrant/blog/) about how her coworkers sacrificed themselves by eating Death By Chocolate Chunk Cookies and Pecan Strawberry Shortbread Bars that had made two transcontinental flights to be unsuccessfully-hooked up with the Heinzels in Kitty Hawk, you probably think the story is over. Wrong!!!

Friday Nancy's brother, Roger, and his wife, Sandy, acted on Nancy's distraught feelings about our inefficient and incompetent postal system by baking some Death By Chocolate Chunk Cookies using LGrant's recipe. They surprised her with the cookies after supper last night. Nice job with the cookies guys, Thank You.

So, all is well that ends well. But all had not ended yet - as we were to find out Saturday night after eating a wonderful supper at the Deaton's house in Huntersville, N.C. Denny told Nancy a package had arrived that afternoon that contained something for the Heinzels. In the picture below you can see the surprised look on Nancy's face as she opened a tin that had been sent to the Deaton's house by LGrant who was aware the Heinzels would be visiting the Deatons Saturday. That's right - the tin contained another freshly baked batch of Death By Chocolate Chunk Cookies and sent transcontinental in time to beat our arrival!!! All present were aware of the story of the first attempt to hook us up with DBCCC. After sampling the contents of the tin all we could think about and talk about was what a valiant effort Linda had made to get us the cookies on our vacation!! Thank you so much, Linda!!
What a great thing Humzoo is turning out to be.

Nancy--I told you the failed shipment of cookies would make this story a better story. Thanks for the memories and fun. Enjoy the cookies!!
Linda
Now that I have partially recovered, I can tell you that they were the most scrumptious cookies ever. They do justice to their name! I passed around the container and we all enjoyed them immensely. Such a rich chocolate taste!!
Linda, you are incredible. After all the time and expense you had lost to this cookie fiasco this week and then you would spend even more time and money making sure we got both the cookies and a happy ending to the story! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!!
And thanks also to my wonderful brother Roger and his wonderful wife Sandy who didn't want me to be disappointed and spent the last day of their vacation at the beach making me Death by Chocolate Chunk cookies from Linda's recipe!!!!! As you can see from the picture, they were scrumptious also!!!! I was very, very touched.
And so ends the cookie saga with a happy ending thanks to some very special people!!!
(ducks)
Glad you all had so much fun.
I'm happy to report that I saw your cousins, Sarah and Jason, at Denny's tonight. They look great and are anxiously awaiting their little one.
We missed you and your wonderful family at the beach. And you missed some incredible cookies!!!
One slightly amusing note about the box. I left your box at my house for carrier pick-up on Thursday morning. I leaned the box up against the wall beside the front door to make sure it was visible. When I got home, the box was still there and my heart sank--somehow the shipment wasn't picked up. Cruel fate again!
Then, I remembered that the first box was identical to the second box. The postman had left my returned cookies in the exact position I'd left the second shipment. Eerie. But I was relieved to see it was the returned box and yours was safely on its way to Huntersville as planned. :)
One last quote:
--George Bailey: What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Mary.--
Nancy--I couldn't give you the moon...hope the cookies will do.
FRANK CAPRA EAT YOUR HEART OUT! :)
Anyway, it was fun to see my sister so surprised!!!!!! What fun and how very thoughtful, Linda, for sending another batch to Nancy in NC!!!! Are we sure this is the ending to the story? This one seems to be ongoing and one without an end!!!! What's next???!!!! Who knows!!!
Know you all had a great time!! I miss you, Sis!!! SLF!
Am I baking today? Not hardly! It's supposed to be 94 in my area. I don't have AC other than a portable in the bedroom. In fact I'm on the verge of hiding back there again. :)
It's 91 where I am today!
And by the way, that's not quite the end of the story!!!!! LOL
