MONDAY - Several years ago my mother gave Nancy and me several bulbs of what she called "magic lilies" or "surprise lilies." We planted them and they grew and spread. Nancy removed the bulbs in a little patch this year so she could put it in zinnias. I kept the bulbs in a bucket until the first part of July - when I happen to come across them by accident after forgetting I had put them in the garage!!! I planted them in a group near my garden and noticed that two were sprouting today.

1) They are magic! Watch for any that climb really high into the clouds. I wouldn't climb up there--I hear that is a giant in residence, Jack...uh, Steve.
