It's still gonna happen.

Deja vu isn't the right word... but it's the first word that comes to mind.

I'm not sure what made me think that this would be the year... but for the first time in a long time... i really thought it would be.

I didn't really when we backed in with an underwhelming 85 wins... only to get swept.
I didn't when we put our faith in a couple of injury prone pitchers and an over the hill shortstop with a funny name.
I guess I may have when we were five outs away...

But i did this year... not only did i feel it with my heart and soul... but with my brain as well.

All the signs were there...balanced and intimidating, deep... close knit with the support of a city drunk with hope ... led by guys who had been there before.

I thought it was a fate... i thought it was poetic... i thought nothing could stop it... i thought it was time.

I don't need to get into details... anyone who felt the same things I felt saw how it unraveled... saw how it went down the tubes... saw how it cut deep into hearts and souls everywhere.

And so here we are... holding the bag... Hoping against hope... Waiting until next year.

And so come next spring, when the snow melts and the flowers bloom and we see the pictures and we hear the interviews and we read the stories... There we'll be... rooting with full force... living and dying with every pitch... Singing that song... wearing those shirts... watching that 'W' Flag fly.

Perhaps it's not as much about actually winning. Perhaps its the fear that if we stop believing it will happen, and stop enduring the heartbreak and frustration... we wont be along for the ride when it happens... because... IT'S STILL GONNA HAPPEN!
