Ida!Just a quick update...Emily was the most amazing woman to watch go through labor and have her baby. She is so strong and it was an honor to be with them when Ida made her way into the world today.
So many emotions came up. It brought back all the pain of labor that I had tucked away in my mind and it was so hard to see someone you love in pain. But I knew Em was going to do it and the minute she thought she couldn't handle it, she was ready to push her out. She succeeded in having her child sans drugs and the minute she was handed Ida, it was as if she had been a mother forever (which all of us that know her, know is the truth.) She breastfed with ease and knew just how to swaddle. She is so inspiring and is simply...an amazing mother in less than 24 hours.
Now for Todd...he was a rock! He was by her side the entire time, wouldn't eat or drink or leave her at all. Rubbed her where she needed, let off when she needed, and gave her all the love and encouragement that helped her get through. He looks at his little girl with so much love and awe...incredible to watch.
I am humbled and once again, honored to have witnessed such a beautiful moment in their lives and mine. I love you guys!
(I didn't really mean to go into everything this much, but I just couldn't stop writing!)
