An attempted walk
Tonight, after the family decided to wake up from a nap, we decided to go for a walk not realizing the many things that had to go right in order for us to be successful. First, we had to change Claire's diaper. Erin took this simple task and quickly achieved success while I unloaded the stroller from the trunk of the car. After unfolding the contraption, clicking everything into place, we finally got Claire into the stroller...This was about 8:30, so we still had a few minutes of light left outside. She was bright eyed, and seemed to be enjoying herself while looking up at the sky.
While Erin pushed the stroller around the driveway, I had to get Maggy. This is where it became a little bit more difficult......Oh, I forgot to mention that I had put the camera and my keys in the cup holder on the stroller....(I wanted to get pictures of our walk) Well, Maggy gets very excited at the mention of a W-A-L-K....She's been a bit neglected lately, so she was VERY excited tonight. The only problem, I could not find her pincher collar anywhere!...Erin and I spent about 5 minutes looking through both our cars, and a little in the house before we finally gave up. Because we were very short on daylight, I decided to attempt to walk her with her regular collar...so,
We get out the door, onto the sidewalk, Maggy and myself are leading the way while Erin pushes Claire in the stroller behind us. Maggy proves to be too much to handle as she is choking herself pulling me! After 50 feet of walking on the sidewalk, my patience is gone!! I look back at Erin and say, "Maggy can't handle this without her pincher collar"..."We're going back". So, quickly, we take Maggy back to the house and put her in the back yard.
We still hoped to take Claire for a short walk in her stroller, but by this time, she was starting to get fussy. By the time we got to the end of the driveway, she was in a full-out scream/cry.
Erin and I quickly glanced at each other....gave each other a little smile, and I said, "Well, we tried.....that's all we can ask for....our best effort"
So, our walk ended at the end of the driveway.
About 30 minutes of planning, 3 minutes of walking, and less than 60 feet traveled.
Below is a picture of how it all ended.

1) The adventure sounds more fun than it would have been if everything had gone smoothly. What would you have blogged about otherwise? An uneventful walk around the block. However, I would have liked to have seen some movie footage of Maggy dragging you down the driveway.

2) At least you tried. And learned a few things. Next time you might make it to the end of the block.

5) If that's the worst thing that happened all day I would say you're in pretty good shape!

6) I've had days like this, so I can relate. And I wouldn't buy a second collar - I'd be getting the dog to stop pulling! We had that same issue with our Lab...she doesn't do it anymore because she knows I won't move if she does. HA!

7) I was going to offer that, Angi, but I think I've used up my annoying ex-dog-trainer time on Humzoo for a while. LOL I agree--no forging. :)
