Chainsaw + Kneecap = No Bueno
Yesterday, I went to the new house to clear some land for a barn. I was cutting through some rather dense sapling growth with a chainsaw. Saplings are tricky. They don't cut well because of they are small and the chainsaw tends to bounce off of the wood rather than dig in and cut. This process is called a kickback. Kickbacks are dangerous and no fun. Usually you stand far enough away, so that if a kickback happens you wont get a chainsaw blade in your leg. I must have been standing too close.

You can see the kickback towards the end of the video.

Don't scroll down any further unless you can handle a little blood.

1) Don't remove the tag on your Mattress Stitch or you could be penalized by law!

4) I know, I know!!!!!! I should have bought some. The brush clearing is the most dangerous part of chainsawing.

5) Try a bush hog next time. I get smacked in the face all the time cutting kudzu and last year a piece of wisteria kicked back and almost broke my thumb. Those liteel branches have a lot of power.

15) Will,

No chainsaws at LEAF. At first, I thought the chainsaw might sounds nice with the gong, but you have to read the instruction manual first. I think you can take an online test.

16) Will, you are making me crazy! I am so sorry about your leg. Please be careful, kick backs never know where to land. Ask Dennis about his uncle. and ask him about his close call. BE CAREFUL! SOMETIMES THE MONEY YOU SPEND SAVING A DIME IS NOT WORTH IT!!
