This is Great Memaw Georgia and Driggs. When we found out Bek was pregnant back at the end of last year, Georgia has had a plan. Her plan was to either move in wit us or have us move in with her and she was going to take care of the baby. She had it all planned out. We knew then, 10 months ago, that she wasn't going to be living alone for much longer. It was a bittersweet visit yesterday. I would like to think that she knew this was her Great Grandson, but I don't think she knew any of us. She seems to go through the motions as if she knows what she is supposed to do. She did muster up the words "purty... and precious" It seems so ironic that 6 months ago the only thing she talked about was how ready she was to take care of the baby.... and how beautiful he was gonna be.... and How I better be good to Bek because she is fragile.

1) Your description of this picture made me cry. I would like to think also that she knows - instinctively that Driggs is her great grandson

2) I know from personal experience how difficult this can be. I am sure, somewhere in her complicated awareness, your grandmother knew ALL of you even if it didn't seem that way. Life can bring such high-highs and low-lows. Even at the same time. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Love and miss you guys down here.

3) Before I read your comments this picture brought tears to my eyes, now I can hardly swallow the lump in my throat. I worked with Alzheimer's the better part of my career and I believe on some level she knows. I also know that your love and visits bring her much happiness. Its so hard to see someone you love so much fade away.

6) I think she really had a good time holding him. You know Georgia knew Driggs' name before anyone else did. i think we told her three or four times. She just didnt remember.. everyone wanted to know so bad... so we just told them that Georgia knew the names and to go ask her!! Ha!!
